APERTURE COUPLED DESIGN Proposed for microstrip slot antennas to improve their radiation performance. Increases the bandwidth of the antenna. Couples the patch antenna with micro strip line throughan aperture. Aperture coupled microstrip slot antenna couples the patch antenna with microstripline through an aperture. To improve the radiation pattern, there are three techniques -First using reflector plate, second using cavity and third by adjustment of the phase angle using the movement of the patch antenna on the slot i.e. By adjusting the SWR distribution. An aperture-coupled design is proposed for Microstrip slot antenna to improve its radiation pattern as well as bandwidth. It is based on coupling of an aperture between the patch antenna. The development of an aperture-coupled microstrip antenna using a meander line slot has been described. The use of a meander line slot loaded to the antenna patch in the proposed antenna configuration has been investigated and shows various advantages. It not only reduces the antenna dimension by the factor of 36%, but also widens. A new aperture coupled design is proposed for microstrip slot antennas to improve their radiation performance. The proposed design is based on a new aperture coupling technique in which the slot is fed by a microstrip line and coupled to several parasitic patch radiators etched on the opposite side from the slot.

Abstract

Aperture coupled microstrip slot antenna couples the patch antenna with microstripline through an aperture. To improve the radiation pattern, there are three techniques -First using reflector plate, second using cavity and third by adjustment of the phase angle using the movement of the patch antenna on the slot i.e. by adjusting the SWR distribution. The third technique improves the radiation pattern without using reflector plate or cavity and it increases the F/B ratio. One effective way to increase the impedance bandwidth is to change the feed shape and the slot shape. The shape of coupling aperture has a great effect on the strength of coupling between the feed line and the patch. Mainly thin rectangular shape of the slot is used in aperture coupled microstrip slot antenna. If, it is chosen a suitable combination of the shapes of feed and slot and tuned perfectly, it gives an optimum impedance bandwidth with a stable radiation pattern.
